Is it Really a Break?

If you're driven to finish your project but progress is lacking, a break may be exactly what you need. Important work can actually take place during the rest.

When you try to accomplish a big project, like writing a book, there may come a time when you need to step away. You may be physically tired or feel you're not being productive. But what happens in this down-time?

Whether you change your setting or your routine, undoubtedly thoughts about your venture will enter your mind. If you allow yourself to entertain them without acting, you may feel a renewed energy because you're free to think without the demand of following through. It's open space to explore a new idea or flush out a problem.

The trick is, after the break, if you feel invigorated, keep that freedom to think with you. You can reach your goal, and stepping away may be part of the process.
